Notes: Unless you are a big fan of Aliene Ma'riage and already know these minute
differences,
the following interview will make more sense knowing the following:
shinbatsuhen == "the book of divine punishment". this is the new version.
seitanhen == "the book of birth". this is the old version.

Inside my Deranged Memories As promised, the complete version of "'Les Soiree' yoru no butoukai/senrei no shou~ seitanhen", renamed "'Les Soiree' yoru no butoukai / danzai no shou ~ shinbatsuhen" has been released. With the 3 new songs unreleased from "seitanhen", and the updated vocals and arrangements, it's as if this "complete version" has had a new life breathed into it. Now, we get the full story from Aliene Ma'riage. --It looks like you will complete the new version of this May's "'Les Soiree yoru no butoukai/senrei no shou~ seitanhen" on schedule. How does it feel for yourselves to attract this kind of attention? Kyouka: I'm happy since we've been able to share our music with a lot of people. --So, the complete version of "'Les Soiree yoru no butoukai/senrei no shou~ seitanhen" will be released on July 23rd, but as of right now (July 7th) how far have you made it in the recording? Ray: About 90% complete. However, we haven't slept in over 3 days. (laughs) Kyouka: Right now we're in the middle of SE [[a song title??]]. I have an image burned into my mind of what I want, but how to express that in music is the phase we're at now. --How did you come about deciding to release a complete version? Kyouka: I had decided to do "shinbatsuhen" ever since we made "seitanhen". "seitanhen" is the fantasy born within me, and "shinbatsuhen" was to have all 7 songs plus those which didn't fit into the original concept of "seitanhen" (SE + the 2 new songs). Ray: Those original 7 are on the new complete version, but all the arrangements have been changed. The main form of the songs didn't change, but we re-recorded all the vocals and we're thinking of changing the order of the songs on the album. --Taking something you've already finished and then re-arranging it once more sound like an awfully ardous task. Kyouka: Yeah, it is. Especially since the image you have from the first time you made it remains. Therefore I wanted to take a completely different outlook with the feeling of the lyrics, something entirely different. --On that note, moreso than saying you've just added a couple new songs, it'd be more approriate to say this is a completely new cd. Kyouka: The songs are the same, but this time it's arranged in accordance to the theme of "shinbatsuhen". Ray: Yeah, for example Kyouka's vocals on this new version of Les Soiree have become more masculine. Kyouka: They've changed so much that if you listen in passing you may even think it's not Kyouka. On this version of Les Soiree I sing not only with my own feelings, but also Ray's feelings of forbidden deeds and conduct, so it's more masculine. --On the newly recorded "suterareta kioku ~kizuato o tadoreba~" your singing style has evolved, hasn't it? The floating, suspened feeling is an image we haven't seen before in the band. Kyouka: That's cause I have multiple personality disorder. The story inside me changes according to the flow of each song, so the inclusion of my feelings in the songs is different as well.. err.. rather, my personality is what changes. In this song as well, a personality which is my but also not me comes forth. Ray: The songs themselves have existed since last time, but with the adding of the lyrics there's new, different give-and-take, and the songs take the shape that you see today. --Do the content of the lyrics come from inside Kyouka? Kyouka: Indeed. From the tragedy born inside me. --The tone of the bass from last time was also pretty, but in contrast, the aggressive guitaring on "wana" is very impressive. Ray: Mast too, in his own way, changes his personality during recording too. (laughs) Mast: That's not true! (laughs) Ray: You see, normally he is a calm, quiet guy but during recording he puts all his aggressive energy into it. The look in his eyes almost changes.. Mast: ....that may be true. (laughs) Ray: On "wana", the song begins suddenly with Kyouka's shouting so it's full of agression. Starting off with shouting and using that unique feature of his vocals is something we decided on when we composed the song. That idea was birthed on the making of "seitanhen", but we've revived it again for this version as well. --Screaming and gasping voices certainly are Kyouka's speciality. Kyouka: I sing with a deranged attitude on "wana" from the get-go. Ray also wanted to contribute his feelings on this, so Ray contributed to the heavy breathing at the end, giving an image of two people. --At the shouting parts what are you saying? Kyouka: Nothing but words that are against the law to publish. (laughs) If you come hear me sing at a show, you might understand a little. --The fans must do their best to catch what you're saying. By the way, who created this album's subtitle "danzai no shou ~shinbatsuhen~"? Kyouka: I did. Since birth, the fate god has punished me with.. that's what I sing about, so that's why I named it "shinbatsuhen". --A sense of "forbidden time and space" flows through this album too, doesn't it? Kyouka: Of course, and to us it will flow ever on. I want everyone to hear this album---and then they will understand. In our last album of 7 songs as well we had this concept of "shinbatsuhen", but some things have been added and some things have been removed. Therefore I want people to listen closely and see the differences. --Speaking of which, you said last time that every sound you add to the songs has meaning. Kyouka: Yes. Every person will have their own way of feeling and interperting the songs, and that's a good thing. I want people not just to listen to them, but to understand them as well. Ray: It's really become a great production, and I want people to hear it. Mast: The previous version was limited, so people who couldn't buy it now can get it. --Aa, I see. A band that's nice to it's fans. (laughs) Ray: But people who have heard "seitanhen" will want to hear it too, I think. (laughs) We've heard it ourselves, and it's like a completely different cd. --Just as I thought, a malicious band. (laughs) But not just the content, but also the jacket of the cd has changed hasn't it? And the special features in the first pressing are different too. Mast: Actually "shinbatsuhen" has been packaged in a clock plate like the "seitanhen" was. --You guys like that thing dont you. Well, after this you'll be going on the Hold Your Key tour around Tokyo and Oosaka, right? Ray: We'll be moving around the stage like there's no tomorrow (laughs). Naturally what we show to the audience is important too. Kyouka: I have no memories of what happens during our shows. After we go backstage I'll ask Ray "how was it", and finally I return to myself. This type of memory loss is probably because I take on a completely different personality on stage. Mast: To those who haven't seen Aliene Ma'riage yet, by all means please come to our shows!
Kyouka: We have plans to play new songs that aren't on either of these albums at the shows. That way you can see the evolved Aliene Ma'riage. Everyone will be dyed in the colors of Aliene Ma'riage. ...please come and feel our forbidden time and space.
